'Beach Day' is a film about two friends, Janet and Deborah, who go to the beach! After their epic montage showing the great time they had at the beach, they arrive back at their front door, with no keys. The keys were lost with the bag they were in, which also contained Janet's 'special' peanut butter. Janet and Deborah retrace their steps in hopes of finding the bag. 'Beach Day' explores new, creative, scenes I haven't tried in any of my films. 'Beach Day' was my first film to include an underwater shot, which was very fun to film.
Our actress, Panda Hills, in an underwater shot for 'Beach Day'.
Filming the underwater scene was challenging. We shot underwater at a pool and tried our best to make it seem as if Janet was underwater in the ocean. Filing underwater at the beach would have contaminated our cameras with salt, given us unpleasant results and would've been very cold for Panda to swim in. Instead, filming in the pool gave us more freedom in making the shot work how we wanted it to. Thanks to all these cool underwater scenes 'Beach Day' is our longest film yet, at four minutes and seven seconds. We usually only spend around 45 minutes to an hour working on these films, so getting a solid four minutes out was wonderful!
The Beach Day premiere held at Happy Guys Studio HQ on May 20th
I'd like to thank my wonderful sisters, Panda and Emily for agreeing to be in the film and acting wonderfully! I'd also like to thank my grandmother, Diana and her husband, Micheal for letting us spend the day with them and driving us to/from places we needed to film. I'd like to thank my fellow Happy Guys for constructing this story and spending the day at the beach filming and the wonderful people over at Andrewthebeaver Productions for producing the film, as always. I'd also like to thank anyone who watched the film and enjoyed it, we all worked very hard on making this one a reality. If you haven't seen it yet, check out 'Beach Day', starring Panda Hills and Emily Hills, written and directed by me, Andrew Hills.Â
